OI Global Partners are a global partnership of career transition and talent management organisations. Recently, I attended an event they hosted in Berlin as their Australasian partner.
What makes events like these crucial for business is the opportunity to build relationships and share professional knowledge. When was the last time you went to an event and engaged with professionals in your industry? If you’re not actively looking for industry events you’re missing the benefits of a huge collection of expertise concentrated in one place, which is extremely rare. After an event I always come back to my business with:

- Ideas to improve our client servicing procedures; and,
- Stronger relationships with my fellow partners.
This last point is really the core element of building a successful business. Whilst the knowledge you can get from conferences is excellent, often it’s the people sharing the knowledge you really want to get to know. So, which conferences have you got booked in your diary?
Think about the bigger picture.
Attending events is so much more than information exchange, it’s about building rapport and trust amongst a community of professionals. They also provide a unique opportunity to become a key person of influence in your respective industry.
If grasped with both hands, you will develop and build relationships with your peers and grow the collective knowledge of your business and industry.
So, what are you waiting for?
So, what are you waiting for? It’s time for you to go out and engage with the broader community of professionals that are already sharing their knowledge and experience. Better yet, I have a great place for you to start.
If you’re in HR and are looking for an opportunity to expand your personal network and learn something interesting in the process I highly recommend DisruptHR, an event I’ve followed since it took America by storm. Well, now that the event has arrived in Australia, it’s time to do your part in building the collective knowledge of the HR industry!
As human beings we need to be a part of something greater. It’s up to you to build strong relationships with others in your industry and when you do, I promise it’s worth it!
If you’re ready to be
